Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU)
Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University has a long-standing and successful history over 100 years where a great deal of important discoveries and inventions have been made. It was founded in 1899.
SPbPU has recently become the “National Research University” — a recognized Russian and international leader in the field of engineering and economic education with rich educational, scientific and innovation infrastructure. Headed by leading scientists, there were established new competence centers in the priority scientific areas. The university has been developing successful partnerships with over 100 leading international companies to perform profound researches through their requests.
Nowadays, SPbPU is the leading university of Russia with over than 33 000 students and rapidly increasing number of foreign students.
The University is a member of Academic Excellence program among Russian Universities “5-100-2020”. SPbPU is listed in the QS World University Rankings (404) and Times Higher Education. The University is proud of its longstanding traditions of international cooperation with many foreign educational institutions, research organizations and industrial companies.
The University is carrying out education and research activities in the following areas: engineering, natural science, management, economics and humanities.
One of the basic principles of educational process at the Polytech is the essential participation of students in the research process. The university has plenty of research laboratories and centers, more than two dozen of small innovative enterprises, technology park and business incubator. Therefore, while studying at the University, students become independent, creatively- minded researchers and inventors, organizers and coordinators of complex scientific and technical projects.
The University is a center for distance education of the North-West of Russia.
Role in the project
The SPbPU team consists of the representatives of the “Innovatika” educational program (Institute of Computer Science and Technology). The team develops courses in the field of theory of automation and management in technical and innovative fields. It includes the flipped authoring team of the course The basics of project-based activities, aimed to demonstrate the way and required steps from an idea to result, develop teamwork skills and provide a framework for managing project activities. An adaptive version of this course will be placed on the platform.
The university also collaborates with companies interested in taking courses on the CEPHEI platform.
