CHAPTER NINE – ASSURING COURSE QUALITY

9.1 Process for Assuring Course Quality

Once CEPHEI courses have been analysed, designed, developed and implemented, they must be evaluated. To assure the quality of CEPHEI courses, the following quality assurance rubrics have been designed. These rubrics cover every aspect that must be included in a CEPHEI course: course recommendations; course design; assessment and measurement; online course overview and introduction; online communication and collaboration; online module components; in-class module components; videos; integrated tech tools; and platformisation, unification and branding.

These rubrics have been developed to be used by instructors to review the quality of their CEPHEI courses. The rubric will also be used by the CEPHEI board to review courses before they are able to be released on the CEPHEI CMS and LMS.

 Instructor Review

To review your course, first read the rubrics carefully. Next, go through your course. Give a score on the scale provided based on your impression and write additional comments for each criterion. Comments should focus on areas of excellence as well as areas that need improvement.

 CEPHEI Board Review

If you are a CEPHEI Board reviewer, first, read the rubrics carefully. Next, go through the proposed course. Give a score on the scale provided for each of the criterion based on your impressions and add additional comments and suggestions. Finally, there is a section in which the reviewer can say if the course can be released to the CEPHEI learning platform, or if it needs improvement.
